❓ How might we create an interactive narrative experience that is immersive, compelling, and thought-provoking?

Our narrative is based on Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, so we did research around the themes of freedom to establish our design statement and overarching narrative. After exploring many story ideas, we were inspired by Severance, Black Mirror, and our own lives to create a corporate-style story about being trapped in a company. We compiled and synthesized our research to come up with platform ideas and rationales, project goals, and our narrative storyline.
If desired, our full narrative proposal can be viewed here:
This project aims to create a thought-provoking virtual reality and augmented reality game that uses Plato’s Allegory of the Cave as a metaphor for the corporate office environment. Through an interactive narrative experience, it explores the theme of being trapped in a deceptive system and explores the difficulty of breaking free, and thus challenging the player to question their own reality and the nature of freedom.
